Parents of a Thika school yesterday frog-marched the headteacher to a police station for allegedly not registering their candidates in the ongoing KCPE examination.
The Kimsack primary school parents claimed that John Kimani received money meant for the ongoing KCPE from his pupils but failed to register 15 candidates for the national exam.
It is reported that it was only after the final list of the candidates who would sit for the exam was released, that it came to the light that Kimani had not submitted the right amount of the money to Kenya National Examination Council despite all the parents paying for the same.
The affected students informed their parents who furiously stormed the school, ready to face the teacher while demanding an explanation.
Led the Parents Teachers Association chair John Waweru, the irate parents forced the headteacher out of his office and with the help of the pupils and his fellow disappointed teachers drove him out of the school compound, to Thika police station where they demanded for justice.
Waweru said that the behaviour of the teacher will not be tolerated by the board and promised to follow closely the case to ensure justice has been done.
“The headteacher will not be spared no matter what and I will ensure he has been prosecuted and justice be served for the pupils,” Waweru said.
Thika West OCPD Shadrack Maithya condemned the act and calmed the angry parents, promising to deal with the teacher if found guilty.
Maithya pointed out that the malicious act is not the first to happen and such cases will be tamed to avoid repetition of the same.
“Every child has a right to sit for the national examination if qualified and it is not right for a teacher or any other person to deny this right to a child due to his or her malicious intentions,” Maithya warned.
The teacher was arrested, and will be arraigned in court today.
