A section of parents who have students joining form one has commended the Ministry of Education in the manner in which it handled the form one selection exercise.
The parents welcomed the process used in the exercise where students were selected to join schools in regions away from their primary schools.
Speaking while presenting their children for admission at Moi Girls High school in Eldoret town on Tuesday, the parents said the move would help enhance national cohesion among the youths.
"When we have students coming from all over Kenya meeting at a common point, I think they will have a lot to share in terms of cultural values, education, and other issues," said Thomas Rungu, a parent from Kuria West in Migori county.
"This is a good initiative that should be embraced as I believe this is one way of addressing tribalism that has become a common thing in our country," added Jane Wafula, a parent from Busia county who had brought her daughter to join form one at Moi Girls in Eldoret.
Students selected to join form one across the country begun reporting to school with the admission process expected to go on until the end of this week.
