Parents in Kisii county want the banned holiday tuition to be legalised and brought back to schools.
They said the tuition exercise helps their children and teachers to cover the syllabus appropriately and to avoid last minute rush as the final exams approach.
They said as long as it is done within the required limits and a fair fee is charged for the service it is fine.
“As long as the fee we pay is in accordance with the services being offered I don’t see the need for the ban on the holiday tuition. Education is very key and we won’t mind spending that extra coin,” said Evans.
They claim students have all the time after completion of their exams to rest.
Others say the children of the ‘rich’ are able to access private tuition back in their homes yet the government still says that tuition is illegal.
“We know the children of the rich are able to access private tuition at their homes which leaves our children at a disadvantage yet they are going to sit for the same exam. Tuition holiday should be brought back,” said Margaret Nyachae.
