Parents in Nyamira County have faulted the government’s move to close all schools following the teacher's ongoing strike.
In an interview with Hivisasa.com, the parents said closure of the schools will disrupt learning and called on the Ministry of Education to reconsider its stand.
Isabela Moragwa, a parent, hit out at the government for the way it has handled the strike, adding there was need for urgent action to save the education sector from what she described as imminent collapse.
Another parent, Moses Mokua, expressed fears that disruption of learning may affect their children's performance in national exams scheduled to start next month.
Mokua called for a truce over the pay dispute so that learning can resume.
