Parents in Nyamira south Sub County and Nyamira County as a whole have been called upon to ensure that they prioritise education and take their children to school in order to secure their future.
Addressing education stakeholders in Nyamira town early Wednesday, area ward administrator Richard Mogeni said education is the only avenue residents can use to raise their living standards, and urged them to discard outdated cultural practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which he said had made the community lag behind in development.
“In the current world, if you do not go to school and get quality education, you cannot achieve anything and therefore we should all ensure that our children receive quality education,” he added.
He urged the young people to take education matters seriously in order to compete in the global job market, and above all make the community shine academically.
“The good thing is that we are having free education and more bursaries, therefore there is no good reason to why we can get the quality education,” he added.
The officer called upon all administrators to ensure that parents who do not take their children to school get arrested and prosecuted for the same.
