The demonstrators took to streets with twigs protesting over what they termed as corruption among the institution's management.

The parents said they had paid for the gowns early enough only to be surprised that their children did not have the attire during the graduation.

The situation almost paralysed the graduation ceremony that was the first to be held at the institution since its inception after its director, Michael Mutua's efforts bore no fruits.

It took intervention of the Mavoko Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, to calm them before the graduation took off, with promise that the graduants without gowns would share with those who were to be conferred upon certificates and Diplomas earlier.

The graduation ceremony later went on successfully, seeing 298 graduants being conferred upon certificates and diploma in various fields of profession ranging from education to social work and community development.
