[Photo| Nation]The National Parents Association chairman Nicholas Maiyo has praised Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for the critical reforms he has brought in the education sector. Maiyo who spoke to the Star on Friday in Eldoret said Matiang'i should be retained in his current position when President Uhuru Kenyatta forms a new government after his inauguration on Tuesday, November 28.He added that parents wants Matiang'i retained in the Education docket because he has done a good job. "Let him continue with the critical reforms he has initiated," Maiyo said as quoted by the daily.The association's chairman also noted that the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination was credible as he also lauded the Kenya National Examinations Council’s performance.“We have made great strides in the fight against cheating. Parents thank CS Matiangi, exam officials, and candidates,” Maiyo added.Maiyo noted that parents welcomed Uhuru's directive to have special exams for candidates who miss papers due to various reasons.
