Parents in Kisii County have applauded the move by the county government to increase the scholarship kitty, terming the move as positive in improving education levels in the county.

According to Kisii parents Association Chairperson Biliah Boyani, the county increased the scholarship kitty by Sh5 million, and now the kitty will be of Sh15 million.

“We can see the reason to why our College and University students and parents can smile because the money, which has been added will see increase in of students receiving scholarships or increase of money to fund their education fully,” said Boyani.

The kitty was launched by Kisii County Governor James Ongwae to help the needy, bright students, and is funded fully by the county government.

She also added that the county government has also promised to add more funds in the programme in the next financial year, to make sure that the programme does not come to standstill.

Kisi County is currently committed to ensure Education is available to those who cannot afford it through the scholarship kitty funded by the county government.
