Jacinta Mwende, the mother of the child who was found with 14 needles, and her husband, Isaac Wanyaoike, have been arrested by the police and her child taken into custody by a child protection agency.
The police hope to unravel the mystery of how the infant ended up with needles in its body.
Both parents have strongly denied that they had anything to do with their child's ordeal.
Rebecca Kariuyki a sub-county children's officer said that she suspects child abuse.
''We suspect it's child abuse that's why we have rescued the baby and allow the police to do their job.'' She said.
Willy Simba, an OCPD, said that the parents were being held at the Thika police station and would soon be arraigned in a court of law to be charged with child abuse.
