Parents whose children are studying at Genga primary school in Boyeiki village, Riana ward Kisii County have threatened to transfer their children from the school after the school performed poorly in last year’s KCPE exams.
The parents on Tuesday camped at the school compound and said the head teacher identified as Mboro will not be allowed to continue being at the school.
“We can’t risk having this headteacher here again this year. He should be transferred to a different school and a new teacher brought in to help the school perform better as it used to perform in the past,” said Hyline Mokomba, one of the parents.
She added that in last year’s KCPE exams, no candidate scored over 200 marks.
“How can a school that has been doing good in final exams fail to produce best candidates? The headteacher has failed to manage the school and he won’t have room to continue serving in the school. We want change or else we will beat him up and send him away,” she added.
Area chief known as Japheth urged the parents to be calm as the matter will be addressed by the county education officers.
“Parents have spoken and their grievances will be addressed by the relevant officials for a lasting solution to be found,” he said.
