Chairman Nderitu while addressing students and teachers at Kilimo Secondary School in Njoro on Wednesday during a book exhibition and reading that was attended by several local school representatives, warned that most of the pirated books do not have full content as in the original books and could mislead and affect both learners’ and teachers’ academic performances.

“It should come to your notice that there are people involved in the distribution of pirated books. These books are sold at a relatively cheaper prices and they do not have full content as in the original books because the dealers seek to cut costs of reproducing them,” revealed Nderitu adding that the trend does not only fall to their disadvantage, but it also affects learners’ performances in their academics.

Nderitu encouraged learners, parents and teachers to exercise caution by ordering books from approved book centres and distributors.

According to Chairman Nderitu, Book Exhibitions and reading tents by approved dealers and publishers are good platforms of gaining information on original and counterfeit publications and urged Schools in the region to organise and participate in such events.
