Led by the National Parents Association chairman Nicholas Maiyo, the parents have raised concerns that will not be able to pay for their children's fees at the beginning of the term due to the delayed payments.

"As parents we are really disappointed with the National government for failing to pay parents who are also farmers who delivered their maize to NCPB," said Maiyo in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

"The National government should pay parents who are farmers their money with immediate effect for them to pay their children's fees," he added

Maiyo further called upon the Ministry of Education and lecturers to end the ongoing strike through dialogue since both parents and students are suffering.

"As parents we are proposing that lecturers should be paid according to the time they are in class and not monthly as it has been the norm. This will stop the strike menace which has become the order of the day since they will not be paid if they are not in class," said the parents boss.

He lamented that parents have suffered allot during the ongoing lecturers strike noting that courses that were supposed to take 3 years are now taking as long as 7 years meaning parents will now have to pay more for their children.
