The parents said they believed their children at the school were being possessed by evil spirits.

However, they faced a hard time as the school administration had sought the intervention of the area education officer and the OCS who prevented them saying it amounted to disturbing the pupils and disruption of normal running of the school activities.

“Why are they preventing us from praying for our children? Doesn’t that show that they are the ones with the evil spirits? We have to pray for them whether they like it or not,” said David Kamau, a parent.

“If they do not allow us to conduct prayers here, we will pull our children out of this school and take them where they will not be haunted by the evil spirits,” Mercy Wairimu, another parent said.

The parents said that they needed no one’s permission to do what they felt was right for the school and their children.

“We just want prayers. You cannot ask the devil for permission to pray. There is a kid here who is possessed and he is spreading the evil spirits to the others,” says Stephen Mwai, another parent.

The move comes following reports that an eleven year old boy in the school is possessed and admitted to have ‘infected’ five other boys.

Prayers had been organised at the boy’s homestead last weekend to cast out the demons.
