On Monday, parents and students of Heroes Secondary School intercepted Mrs Elizabeth Muriuki, who had been principal for the last three months, and took her back after an impromptu transfer to Kirobon High School in Rongai sub-county.

According to one of the parents, Joyce Kiberenge, Muriuki has been the pillar for Heroes School and much has been achieved during her tenure as the principal.

“Mrs Muriuki has done good in terms of development and moulding our children and her transfer was unprocedural and irregular and it is for this reason that we have taken her back whether TSC likes it or not,” she claimed.

The angry parents were calmed by area Deputy County Commissioner Mutula Kisilu who said the matter will be resolved in the most amicable manner.

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri who was present said the parent’s will, should reign and such transfers should not be carried out.

“She was transferred three months ago from Bahati Girls and she came at a time when parents had expressed their discomfort with the then principal to the extent that they burnt a section of the school. Students had now bonded with her very well and parents have spoken so let their will be respected,” he said.

There have been claims that some TSC officials within the county were behind Mrs Muriuki's transfer.

By the time of going to press, area leaders including Kiamaina MCA Paul Thuo together with Bahati Sub-county Education Officer Dennis Kinoru were holding a joint meeting aimed at resolving the standoff.
