Parents of Elimu Primary School in Engashura Village in Bahati sub-county are up in arms with the Schools Head-teacher for what they term as corruption and neglect of duty and want him to resign.
Led by their spokesperson Pastor Elijah Njuguna, the parents have petitioned the Head-teacher (Bonface Githinji) to resign in a two weeks’ time or face forceful eviction from the office by the parents.
Talking to this writer on Tuesday at Wanyororo Trading Business Centre near the School, Pastor Njuguna who was accompanied by those angry parents claimed that the Head-teacher was involved in gross misuse of the School resources and has failed to provide adequate academic leadership, a situation they say had caused steep deterioration in academic and extra-curricular performances by the school.
According to Pastor Njuguna, the Head-teacher hires out the school bus for personal interests and gains and charges pupils to pay as much as Sh700 to cater for transport costs during academic and extra-curricular trips.
“We have been watching all these bad things the Head-teacher has been doing in this School, but he thought we are fools when we took long to react. This bus was bought using the money we contributed and CDF contributed also,” said Pastor Njuguna.
He added that there was no any apparent reason why the children should be charged transport money when their School Bus is being hired for exchange of money, in stead money got from hiring should cater for their transport cost.
“This is corruption and misuse of public resources by Head-teacher Githinji,’’ charged Pastor Njuguna.
He also claimed that the School has drastically dropped down the academic ladder since the Head-teacher took over the running of the School some six years ago.
