Speaking on Saturday morning during a Press briefing outside his office, OCS Sifuna stated that parents of students and children who will be found walking anyhow at night in towns will be arraigned in Law Court to answer on behalf of their underage girls and boys.

“Pupils, students who are on holiday have embraced a tendency of loitering in towns up to late in the night. Even young girls who are vulnerable we find them still in towns after 8pm,” said Sifuna.

OCS Sifuna explained that on Friday night he arrested 30 girls and boys in Donyo Sabuk town and since it was too late he had to spend the night with them in Donyo Sabuk Police Station.

“Since the arrested minors cannot be charged in Courts of Law, we will be going for their parents to to explain to Court why their underage children were not under the parental care, especially at that night,” added OCS Sifuna.

He further stated that the habit leads to bad behaviours as the minors will be tempted to engage in crimes like drinking alcohol and the young girls are exposed to being raped by irresponsible people at night.
