Masinga Constituency residents have launched complain about lack of enough teachers in public Schools in Machakos County.
The residents have called upon the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to intervene and employ more teachers to Schools built using Constituency Development Funds.
Speaking at a forum with their MP during his routine tour in Masinga town, the residents were grateful to their Member of Parliament Itwiku Mbai for building more Schools through CDF Funds to promote free education in the area.
However they urged him to ensure that more teachers are employed by the Teachers Service Commission.
Joseph Mutemi the area resident and a parent stated that education in the new Schools is big challenge to both students, parents and few teachers already in those Schools due to lack of enough teachers.
“The new Schools that have been built have attracted many students who have the zeal to acquire education and the right skills but the teachers are very few and us as parents are forced to part with our money to pay contracted teachers so that the syllabus is completed in time before National Exams,” said Mutemi.
The residents further urged the county government through the CDF Funds Kitty to put aside finances to fund building of Schools laboratories to boost Science related subjects in the Schools.
