Ikinu chief has urged parents from poor back grounds to apply for bursaries from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Equity and Kenya Commercial Bank Foundations.

Speaking today at Ikinu Trading Centre during a public baraza, Kamau urged parents to keep in touch with the two foundations to ensure they get scholarships for their children.

He said that he is also keeping in touch with local CDF to ensure bright but needy students do not miss form one.

“I have started talks with CDF and Equity Bank on the procedures to be followed in the allocation of scholarships,”said the chief.

Kamau revealed that he has been receiving a great number of parents in his office inquiring on how to get the scholarships. He said that he would guide parents on how to get bursaries.

“I have been working with local CDF to make sure no bright student misses secondary education,” said Kamau.

The chief however said that due diligence will be followed to ensure only those parents from poor backgrounds benefit from the exercise.

“No corruption will be involved in giving out bursaries. Only those parents from needy backgrounds will be eligible,” said Kamau.

He urged the county government to increase its allocation to the bursary kitty to enable more students sail through secondary education.

“The county government needs to increase its allocation to enable needier and disabled students get education,” said Kamau.

Equity and Kenya Commercial Banks have introduced scholarship schemes to finance secondary education through their foundations.
