Kisumu county parents have been urged to be role models to their children.
Addressing parents in Obunga estate, County Guiding and Counselling Officer Ruth Amolo said there had been concerns of parents neglecting their children noting that they (parents) should play their part in child development.
The officer noted that rampant alcohol and drug abuse in the estates had been necessitated by poor parenting urging parents to be role models since children grow to emulate.
According to Amolo, apart from guiding and counselling their children, the parents needed to instil discipline in their children by educating them on proper and reputable behaviour.
“Parents need to act as role models by teaching their children good morals since they emulate them,” he noted.
