Parents in Nakuru County have been urged to be alert and ensure that no public land set aside for schools and other amenities is grabbed by greedy individuals as experienced in other counties.
Deputy County Commissioner Elmie Shafie has stated that some of the land grabbers take advantage upon realizing that the society is weak.
"The issue of land grabbing is rampant in some counties with a few cases here in Nakuru and I would like to take this opportunity to call upon you parents to be alert so that we can tackle this issue. No public land set aside for schools and other amenities should be grabbed," said Shafie.
The commissioner also called on school heads to ensure they get title deeds for their institutions because many grabbers are targeting land parcels that do not have documentation.
Shafie who was speaking on Friday at Muslim Primary school in Nakuru West Sub-county during the school's AGM also warned parents against keeping their children at home instead of enrolling them in schools.
"Every child has a right to education and any parent who will be found to have contributed to the dropout of their children from school will face the law.The Government of the day is very clear when it comes to matters of education and as administrators we shall ensure that," he said.
