Parents have been asked to ensure that their children do not join illegal sects or other criminal groups by monitoring their daily activities closely.
Wycliffe Munanda, Assistant County Commissioner in charge of Kiambaa Sub-county while speaking in a public meeting on Monday in Kiambaa lamented over the increasing number of youth joining crime in the area.
“It is disheartening to see even school-going children getting into crime and getting jailed for many years. Parents must maintain a closer look to their children's activities,” said Munanda.
Speaking in the same function, Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange urged the residents to stop hiding criminal elements among them.
“We have to make our security here in Kiambaa better. We know the criminals amongst us, why can't we write their names and put them in the suggestion boxes at our administrators' offices?, said Koinange.
The legislator advised the residents that it will be very hard to achieve any development in the area if the security situation continues to remain in shambles.
