Uasin Gishu Patron for People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) Barnabas Chemase has lamented parents not registering their children with disability.

He said by them registering the children, it will be easier for them to get help from the national and county government.

“By registering your child with a disability it will be easier for us to examine him or her and know the kind of disability he or she is having and the help that can be accorded,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.

“For those who have not registered should visit our APDK offices at the Eldoret District Hospital for them to be registered and access county and national government funds that will help them improve their livelihoods,” he added.

He, however, warned parents who are still hiding children with disability saying that they will be arrested and charged with the same.

“Parents should not hide disable children but instead give them the right to access education just like their normal counterparts since disability is not inability,” noted Chemase.

He also advised people with disability to join groups for them to benefit from funds given by county governments that will help empower them financially making them independent.
