Nakuru county chairman of implementation committee Simon Wanyoike Wanango has called on the Ministry of Education to investigate colleges in the county
Wanango said that that the presence of fake colleges in the county was worrying, saying that many parents or students might fall prey to these unrecognised institutions. He spoke in Kihoto where he called on parents to ensure that they enrolled their children in credible organizations.
According to Wanango, there is an urgent need to look into the credibility and the history of such institutions, which often cost parents a lot of money.
“We are appealing to parents to first investigate colleges and even visit the Ministry of Education offices to ensure that the colleges they want to enrol their children are recognized. It would be such a waste if they spent a lot of cash only to find that the certificates are void,” Wanango said.
The Lakeview MCA cited that they would also be very careful as to whom they allocated bursaries.
“We might also end up being conned as a county government and we intend to prevent that. We will consider the organizations and scrutinize them thoroughly to prevent us from being victims of fraud too,” Wanango added
