Seme Member of Parliament has urged residents and parents from Seme constituency to support school projects.
In an address to parents, teachers and students at Alwala Mixed High School during the fundraising ceremony for purchase of the school bus, James Nyikal talked tough on parents who resisted school projects thus making most schools to lag behind in terms of development and performance.
“Let us support our school projects and not wait for good Samaritans to come and do everything for our children,” said Nyikal.
He added that it is a collective responsibility of parents, teachers and students to see the school grow.
The occasion that was attended by most of the local area leaders led to contribution of over Sh1.25 million towards the purchase of the school bus.
The leaders also urged the parents and guardians of needy students to take up bursary forms and fill them so as to get bursaries from county governments and CDF.
West Seme ward representative Ndeda while talking of the same said, “We are ready to support the needy and bright students, no student should miss exams because of lack of fees in my ward, am doing my best to see students get supported in my ward.”
Area residents were also urged to form women and youth group so as to take loans from Uwezo funds and Youth Enterprise Fund to start businesses that would see them raise school fees for their children.
