Uasin Gishu County Director of education Nicodemus Anyang has urged parents to be responsible for paying their children’s fees on time so as to help school heads run their institutions smoothly.

He said the government had subsidized school fees in secondary schools thus parents had reason to fail in paying fees.

“It’s sad that some parents in the county have failed their children by not paying fees on time making them stay at home. Parents have a huge responsibility of maintaining their children in school and ensuring that they learn in a conducive environment,” he said in Eldoret town, Friday.

How do you expect your child to perform well when he or she spends 50% of his or her time at home? Let us be serious and support our children,” he added.

He, however, urged parents to ensure they spent most of their time with their children this will help them know their weaknesses and will help them improve their performance.

“Many children have unique problems which are unknown to their parents that end up affecting their academic performance. It time they take their full responsibility and avoid leaving it to teachers alone because for a child to excel we need concerted efforts,” noted Anyang.
