Speaking on Thursday at Nyainogu Primary school during a thanks giving ceremony following good results in the last year’s K.C.P.E, Omanga said every child has a right under the new constitution to access education.

“We cannot deny children opportunities to go to schools given that it is an obligation of the government under the new constitution. As we know, free primary education has been there for almost a decade and we have to appreciate it by making good use of it,” said Omanga.

He warned parents who violated children’s rights by not taking them to school to at least acquire basic education and threatened to spearhead a crackdown together with police officers to apprehend them.

“Any parent who does not want to give his or her child an education, is just like a criminal. We will not tolerate such weird behaviours. We will work closely with police to arrest and arraign such people in court,” added Omanga.

The former Nyamira County Majority Leader said parents had a major obligation to ensure every child gets the best education to help brighten their future lives and to also deal with the poverty associated with lack of education in the area.

“Poverty is eminent here. As parents we must ensure that our children get the best education because education is the only key to success”, said Omanga.
