Chief Amos Kamau of Ikinu Location, Githunguri constituency has urged parents to take their parental roles in modelling their children.
Kamau said that the parents have abandoned their roles in caring their children leading to breakdown of communications.
“Parents have abandoned their parenting roles to upbring respectable families,” said Kamau.
Addressing residents on Wednesday at Ikinu Trading Centre during a public meeting the chief urged parents to take their parental duties seriously.
This comes after many children have been abandoned by their parents who involve them in the consumption of chan'gaa.
Kamau said that lack of moral support by parents would led to disintegration of families.
“Parents should provide the necessary moral support to their children to enable them grow in respectable society,” said the chief.
He urged the parents to form the habit of spending their time with their children to guide them in matters concerning moral values.
“By bonding with children, parents can instil moral values to their children and enable them to be respectable members of society,” said Kamau.
