Nominated Member at the Nakuru County Assembly Margaret Kiiru said this while addressing members of Sokoni Women Group at Kunste Hotel during an end year thanksgiving and get together party.

“During December holiday, many teenage girls start experiencing sex and drug abuse. This season they also get unwanted pregnancies and even contract STDs.”

The MCA observed that the festive December holiday was full of hype behaviours and situations that promote irresponsible sexual behaviours and told parents of school going girls to take extra care of their children’s behaviours to avoid such incidences.

She added: “Our mothers must take extra care to restrain their teenage girls from such incidences. The girls risk dropping out of school or registering poor results and ruining chances of a bright future if they are not advised carefully.”
