Parents in Matungulu sub-county have asked Matungulu OCPD Joseph Chesire and the police force to conduct a crackdown on school buses flouting traffic rules as schools open today countrywide.
In an interview with some of these parents, they noted that school buses take advantage and flout traffics just because they are not stopped at checkpoints.
Jacinta Kalekye said that these school busses carry excess pupils and students where many of these vehicles are unroadworthy thus making it prone to accidents.
The parents complained about the uncertainty of their children's safety as they go and come back from schools.
"How sure are we that our children are safe in the school buses when they are stocked and some of the vehicles ar in a bad state?" wondered Kalekye.
They urged the police to investigate and ensure these vehicles adhere to the traffic rules in a bid to safeguard the lives of the children.
