The parents say that Nyamage primary school did not produce a student who qualified to be admitted to a national school, the worst performance since 2002.

Speaking at a meeting organised by education stakeholders in Kisii town yesterday ahead of opening of schools on Monday, they blamed John Ombasa over incompetence following significant drop in the national exam, dropping from a 260 mean previous year to 235 marks last year.

“I think he should honorably resign,” said Joash Oremo, on behalf of parents.

“Us parents, we have been compliant and supportive hence we require good results. The dismal performance last year is inexcusable.”

They associated the drop in performance to insufficient input from some teachers who have constantly absconded duty for other activities.

“We have evidence of some government teachers reverting to their personal businesses instead of spending time in imparting knowledge to our young ones,” he added.

However, when contacted, the embattled headschool defended his leadership by blaming former candidates on them perfomance terming them as “weak and difficult” to absorb instructions given by teachers.
