Parents have been warned against exposing their children to domestic violence whenever they disagree on issues concerning their marital affairs.
Speaking during an advisory council on children protection in Kilifi on Sunday, National Council for Children’s Services officer Mrs Mary Moyaka condemned inhumane acts of some parents that has led to the death of innocent children.
She advised parents to look for means of solving their differences amicably, adding that they should shun taking their anger out on their young ones.
The officer said those exposing their children to any form of violence ought to face the full force of the law.
“It is so disturbing to see children being killed by parents just because they have disagreed. Parents who wish to die should take their own lives and leave the children alone,” she said.
Moyaka also asked stakeholders in the education sector to encourage young girls who have dropped out of school due to teenage pregnancies to go back to school noting that education is the key to success.
Kilifi County Children’s Coordinator Mr Maurice Tsuma took an issue with the organisers of night discos during this Christmas and New Year festivities saying they have become avenues to waylay young girls.
He called upon provincial administrators, parents and guardians to team up and ensure children are restrained from attending such functions.
