This comes after the security agencies and the county children services department launched a crackdown to arrest parents who fail to take their children to school.

Hassan said all parents in the region neglected parental responsibilities will be arrested and prosecuted over child negligence.

“It is offensive to keep children at home during school time. No one should violate the children rights and anyone found will be dealt with as by the rule of law,” said Abdi.

He directed local government officers in villages to report any parent to police who will fail to take his or her children to school.

“The government is offering free education and no parent will have an excuse. Each child who has attained a school going age must be taken to school because education is the key to life,” he stated.
