Area Chief, Henry Mirera has warned any parent found to have deliberately skipped the administration of the rubella vaccination will face the law for threatening lives of their children.

Speaking to members of the public at Nyakegogi Tea Buying Centre at Iyabe-Nyakegogi shopping centre in Giasaiga sub-location, Mirera challenged parents within his area of jurisdiction to ensure their children within the age bracket are administered with the anti-measles jab as provided for by the Ministry of Health.

The administrator informed members of the public that the countrywide exercise targeting more than 19 million children in the country will not be conducted through a door-to-door campaign, instead, parents will be required to take their children to the nearest public health facilities.

"I am reminding all parents from my Itumbe location to ensure their children aged between 9 and 14 are administered with the anti-measles vaccination during the countrywide campaign kicking off on Monday," stated Mirera.

Mirera, however, warned some parents in the area who argued that there was no need for subjecting their children to repeated anti-measles vaccination since they had been vaccinated in the past, reminding them that by so doing they endangered lives of their children.
