Area chief Antony Maina told the parents to keep the money safely by depositing it in banks to avoid the temptation of using it.

Speaking at Kiamaina Secondary School on Sunday, Maina said that the teachers strike can end anytime soon and cautioned parents against using the money meant for school fees.

“Some of you might be tempted to use the money thinking that the strike will last forever but let me tell you that schools might reopen anytime from now. Take the money to the bank if you cannot keep it safely by yourself,” said Maina.

He called on parents to ensure their children are occupied with books instead of roaming aimlessly within the area.

“When you walk around you will find groups of young boys and girls idling along the road instead of reading. We must realize that the holidays are over and the students must be kept busy until teachers resume duty,” he said.

He warned students against visiting video halls and said that video hall owners found to be admitting students will be dealt with accordingly.
