Police officers in Uasin Gishu have raised an alarm over increased child negligence in the county.
This comes after a man aged 40 quarrelled with his wife and chased her away resulting to the death of their 4 months old daughter.
Eldoret East OCPD Richard Omanga said the man locked the minor in a cupboard for 4 days leading to her death due to suffocation.
Omanga said parents boycotting their parental responsibilities will be dealt with accordingly.
"Parents have forgotten that we have laws which should be followed. When married people disagree they should not take their anger to innocent kids. Parents should be responsible, failure to which the law will not spare them,” he said.
The OCPD called on women whenever they move from their matrimonial homes to move with children who are still breastfeeding to avoid unnecessary death.
“Children should be breastfed properly by their mothers. Women running from matrimonial homes leaving behind minors will be pursued, arrested and prosecuted,” added Omanga.
