Parents in Nakuru county have been called upon to be cautious with the daily whereabouts of their children and what they eat during the long holidays especially after it emerged that some unidentified individuals are manufacturing sweets and chewing gums intoxicated with narcotics.
Addressing media in his office on Wednesday, Nakuru Lions School Head teacher Fanuel Imbusi said it sad that there are people out to harm others.
“I just want to pass a word of caution to parents during this long holiday especially after it emerged that we have some sweets that are intoxicated and when children consume, they lose their memory. My secretary was a victim but we have reported the matter to the health experts,” said Imbusi.
“With these long holidays we have parties and merry making and we therefore as parents must work on how to ensure our children are not affected,” he said.
His sentiments come at a time when children are at home for the longest holidays ever as per the Ministry of Education calendar set by the CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
