Parents in Uasin Gishu county have commended the ministry of Education for releasing this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results early.
The parents some of whom joined teachers and pupils in celebrating exemplary results said this will enable them adequately prepare their children to join form one.
They also welcomed a directive by the ministry of education that form one selection be completed by early December.
"This system is very good especially for us parents as once the results are released early we are able to know the kind of schools the children will join and prepare all the requirements in advance," said a parent at Eldo Baraka school in the outskirts of Eldoret town whose child, Marion Chepkoech scored 404 marks.
During the release of KCPE results on Tuesday, Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) chairman George Magoha said the acquisition of 20 new scanning machines at a cost of Sh100 million had enabled the examination marking to be completed in two weeks.
The new optical readers replaced 20 old scanners bought more than 17 years ago.
