Parents in Kisii County have welcomed the move by the National government to reduce school fees across all public schools in the country and called upon the Ministry of Education to implement the same.
Speaking during a parents’ meeting in Cardinal Otunga Boys High school, the chairperson of Kisii Parents Association, Enock Birundu, said the current school fees is unsustainable and the government should further decrease the amount being paid by the parents.
"We have seen the government say the school fee has been reduced only to learn that it was just a mere directive. We believe the Deputy President is serious on this matter and we would like the Education Cabinet Secretary to make sure that all schools reduce the fees," said Birundu.
He also urged students to play their roles in making sure they work hard in class for better performance of the school in the near future.
The principal Cardinal Otunga Boys Kisii, Nyaega Benjamin, assured the parents of better school performance than the previous years.
