Speaking during the United Nations Disability day on Thursday at the Eldoret Catholic Cathedral, director of social services in Uasin Gishu County, Grace Kenduiywo, lamented that many children with severe disability are yet to benefit from the fund.

"It is sad despite us having money to assist them they don't show up to register and if they register they don't come for the funds," she said.

He said that two hundred people who had applied for the cash transfer programme have not yet showed up to claim the money.

"The cash transfer money is being given to twenty people with severe disability in every constituency," she said.

The money is meant to be used to conduct surgery, buy wheelchairs, and for their medication among others needs.

He urged the national and county governments to create awareness in the grassroots to enable more people to benefit.

"I urge parents who have children with severe disability to stop hiding them since it is not a curse but instead, they should register them to get cash transfer funds," she stressed.
