Members of Parliament on Thursday changed House rules that will see each of the 349 lawmakers serve on two committees ,pushing the total number of teams from 29 to 32.

No member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) ,the MP's employer or a chairperson of the committee will be allowed to serve on any other committee.

Two joint committees comprising members of the Senate and the National Assembly has been split.

The National Assembly will now have its stand alone committees on national cohesion and equal opportunity as well as committee on Parliamentary broadcasting and library.

The trade committee has been carved out from finance and planning committee, while sports and culture has been created from labour and social welfare committee.

The legislators adopted a report of the Procedure and House Rules Committee which created 662 slots up from 554 for distribution among the general membership of the House.The changes saw an increase of 88 slots to be shared among lawmakers.

It is further observed that the proposed increment is minimal with additional two slots proposed for departmental committees and watchdog committees and additional four slots for Budget and Appropriations Committee, "states the propose changes.

The major Parliament changes comes amid internal wrangles within NASA coalition over the members selected to these committees.
