Parliament is from Thursday, June 15, proceeding on recess, Sine Die, ahead of the August 8, polls.
This mean, the two Houses, National Assembly and the Senate Assembly will not be dissolved, as it has always been in the past governments, during elections, until August 8.
In the past, Parliament was dissolved 60 days to the general elections but the 2010 Constitution says Parliament's term runs to the day of the next election.
MPs and Senators will therefore be able to be recalled by the Speakers, Justin Muturi and Ekwee Ethuro, respectively, in case of emergency or special sittings, even if its on the election day, before final results are declared.
The current 11th Parliament has gone to history books, since it is the only one that has taken the shortest time, of 4-years and 4-months, compared to past Parliaments which sat for a total of 5-years.
Kenya's 12th Parliament will resume after the August 8 elections.
