President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that the National Assembly will be lobbied  to align the budget and allocate funds towards the fight of the ongoing drought.

Acknowledging that the drought was a serious problem, he said that the government will request parliament to align the budget with the aim of buying food for starving families.

“As national Government, we are taking this issue to Parliament requesting them to realign the budget and allocate funds to purchase food for Kenyans affected by drought,” said the President.

He added that the government will scale down fund allocated to projects and channel them to fighting hunger.

Uhuru was speaking in Kitui county on Wednesday during an exercise to distribute water boozers.
