According to Duale, the house is likely to face quorum hitch from next week as most of the members will be focusing on their re-election bids.

“We expect members to balance between their campaigns and their cardinal duty of legislation as in the constitution,” he said.

“In the unlikely event that a member loses his or her party primaries, then he or she will only be coming to the house to finish his or her term but his loyalty will no longer be to any party so it will be very difficult to lobby the member,” he added.

Duale said among the business that will be transacted is the budget estimates of 2017/18, adding that already the budget policy statement has been approved by the house.

“We expect Finance Cs Henry Rotich to table the budget estimates both revenue and expenditure latest by next week Tuesday so that it can be referred to various departmental committees,” he stated.

The Jubilee MP also noted that all the bills that are related to the budget making process among them Division of Revenue Bill and the County allocation of revenue bill will be dealt with.

Other bills before the house are the Statute Miscellaneous Amendment, the Finance, the Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime Amendment and the Public Service Amendment Bills.

The National assembly resumed its activities on Tuesday.
