National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi on Thursday allowed a request by its Majority leader Aden Duale and Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa that the list of opposition NASA MPs who signed the House attendance register be made public.
The speaker
said the Constitution stipulates that allHouse business be conducted in an open manner.
Muturu said the era of making technical appearances at Parliament ended with the old Constitution.
"The request to make the register available to the public is valid. I will make further communication on the other issues," Muturi told the House during the afternoon session.
Majority Leader Aden Duale argued that it was dishonest of NASA MPs to come to parliament and sign the attendance register while continue claiming they will not how up in the 'illegitimate Parliament'.
Some of them including the Homa Bay woman rep, who is a former PSC commissioner, walk in and mark the register. Some are taking tea in the MP's lounge," Duale said.
