Police are investigating an incident where a Mavoko politician was attacked, beaten, robbed and his car damaged by a gang on Monday.
Michael Mutuku, an ODM parliamentary aspirant is said to have been ambushed at Nzoiani, a few metres from Ivalini market in Muthwani ward.
Mutuku had been traveling with a driver and three other people when they were attacked.
“I was heading to Ndovoini and Joska to issue appointment letters to my election agents and those of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga when one Munyambo, a long time friend and one of my opponent Patrick Makau's handlers stopped me," he said.
"I told my driver to stop the car by the road so we could greet him. When I lowered the co-driver’s window, the attackers who were more than ten emerged."
Mutuku said the goons were armed with axes, pangas, rungus and other crude weapons.
The MP aspirant narrated that they hit him with an empty soda bottle on the back of his head and smashed the rear windscreen of his Toyota Prado KBT 600 S before demanding cash.
