[Photo/Nairobi News]A Parliamentary Committee has called for the arrest and prosecution of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu for allegedly warning 'foreigners' against seeking elective posts in the county. Waititu has been accused of criticising the Kahawa Wendani residents for voting for an 'outsider' Cyrus Omondi as the area MCA.Omondi, who is from the Luo community, beat all odds to win the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.National Assembly Cohesion and Equal Opportunity Committee chairman, Maina Kamanda, described the governor's remarks as unfortunate and careless and asked the government to punish him."We will put pressure on the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for his (Waititu’s) prosecution. We will not sit back and watch people like Waititu destroy this country," he said.Kamanda, a Jubilee Nominated MP, said the governor should not have condemned Kahawa Wendani residents but, instead, should have congratulated them for going beyond ethnicity."When a governor from President Uhuru Kenyatta's home county makes such statement, he is making the President's work of uniting the country very difficult," he noted. The MP was speaking to the press on Wednesday at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.Waititu's remarks have also been condemned by Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
