Kandara Parliamentary hopeful Philip Njuguna Waruthi has filed a lawsuit against Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo for allegedly insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta during a National Assembly Special Sitting last month.
Waruthi filed a case at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday under a certificate of urgency through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, and he looks to have the Mbita MP restrained from verbally demeaning the President.
According to Waruthi, Millie Odhiambo violated Article 131(1) (e) of the Constitution, which identifies the President as the symbol of unity, and now wants the legislator to apologise to the President within 48-hours upon the issuance of the court order.
The businessman-cum politician also accused the Member of Parliament of abusing her parliamentary privilege and immunity.
