This was said by the Nakuru County Director of Natural Resources and Water Management Kiogora Murithi in his office on Friday, after receiving an environmental impact assessment report from the National Environment Management Authority, involving proposed electrical supply lines within the county for public endorsement.

Murithi observed that the law requires that members of the public be involved in scrutinizing environmental impact assessment reports on various stringent issues, including terrestrial habitat alterations, noise, leaks, road safety, soil erosion, air pollution, contamination of ground and surface water resources among others.

“We are encouraging members of the public to be aware of their obligations in environmental protection because any projects meant for the good of the public must also pass environmental protection and disaster management regulations,” said Murithi.

He announced that the reports are available at the county government’s resource centre and website while all comments are considered by the government before the project managers are given a green light to start implementation.
