Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris now wants the government to allocate funds to the officeholders throughout the country.
In an interview on Radio Maisha Thursday, Passaris complained of inability by the leaders to properly carry out their operations due to a shortage of funds.
She observed that at times, they are forced to dig into their pockets to deliver service to their people.
''The Women Representative office has to be allocated funds to facilitate proper service delivery and citizen empowerment. Currently, the office holders are at times forced to use their own money to address their people's shortcomings as the office has no budget,'' she said.
She further stressed on the need for more female representation in all leadership positions, highlighting on the need for Kenyans to consider more women when making their leadership decisions.
According to the leader, the women representative post and the several nomination slots allocated for women are not enough to fully incorporate them into leadership.
''More women are need in leadership positions and we as women and leaders must unite to ensure that the same is attained. We can not only depend on the women representative position and nominations as they are not enough,'' added the leader.
