Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has condemned the police for unlawfully arresting,  detaining and deporting self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna.

Passaris argues that Miguna was held in police custody unlawfully by the Jubilee administration to intimidate vocal opposition leaders.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing three-day International day against FGM at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)   on Wednesday morning, Passaris said that Miguna’s arrest, detention and deportation was an act of cowardice by the Jubilee regime.

The vocal ODM Women Rep said that Miguna did nothing wrong to warrant his arrest and detention.

“It was wrong and unconstitutional for the police on instructions of the government to arrest and detain the innocent man and later unlawfully deport him,” She said.

Passaris asked the Jubilee government to respect the rule of law and ensure the rights of Kenyans are protected.

She said that the government is sending a wrong signal by failing to honor and respect court orders.

The Nairobi women's rep said that police failure to respect High court orders that granted Miguna's release was shameful act and must be condemned strongly.

The Nairobi women's rep said that they will not be intimidated by the government illegal and unlawful arrests.

“What they want is to scare us and force us to abandon the reforms agenda, something that is not going to happen,” she said.

Passaris asked Kenyans to stand firm and protect their constitution from being violated by the Jubilee regime.Miguna   Miguna was deported on Tuesday night to Canada after five days in police cells.

Miguna was booked in a KLM plane flying to Amsterdam minutes after 10 PM.

Earlier Tuesday, the Canadian based lawyer had been arraigned at Kajiado law courts and charged with three counts relating to NASA leader Raila Odinga's swearing in last week.

Miguna, however, did not plead to the charges and requested the Kajiado law court to have him presented before High court judge Luka Kimaru in Nairobi.

Kimaru had ordered the police to personally produce him (Miguna) in court.

The lawyer’s deportation has elicited condemnation from a section of Kenyans and politicians allied to the opposition.

The government has vowed to crack down on politicians who planned and administered Raila's oath as the people’s president last week.

On Tuesday 10 NASA top politicians fearing for arrest over their role in Raila's swearing-in moved to court to stop their arrest.

The 10 politicians among them Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho were granted Sh100, 000 anticipatory bails and asked to present themselves before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
